Femi Soneye: Happy Birthday To Nigeria’s Rising Super Star, By Emmanuel Ajibulu

“A true hero is not inspired by their strength, but by their ability to inspire and lead others” – Mahatma Ghandi (1931)

“A true hero isn’t measured by the size of his strength, but by the size of his heart” – Zeus
I am extremely proud and happy to join the Nigerian Guild of Editors, (NGE) and other prominent groups and associations to sing a birthday song to a media personality and publisher, Femi Soneye as he marks another year in the land of the living hale and hearty.
Soneye lived and has given his entire life to the media industry in a very respectable manner. He cares for Journalists and stands up to injustice when it mattered most.
Attaining 51 years in a tough terrain like Nigeria is not an easy feat. Nigerians are aware of your positive exploits towards making Nigeria and the society a better place.
In the dynamic realm of corporate communications, few professionals have made as profound an impact in such a short span as Femi Soneye, the immediate past Chief Corporate Communications Officer (CCCO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
Appointed in October 2023, Soneye literally redefined NNPCL’s public image, a feat that earned him the distinguished title of Triangle International’s Image Maker of the Year.
He also embarked on a mission to overhaul NNPCL’s communication framework. He introduced innovative media strategies and prioritized meaningful stakeholder engagement, seamlessly integrating modern technology with traditional relationship-building.
Femi Soneye’s tenure at NNPCL exemplified the transformative power of strategic communication and dedicated leadership. His innovative approaches and unwavering commitment have not only reshaped NNPCL’s image but have also set a new standard and changed the trajectory for corporate communications excellence.
Before his meritorious service in NNPC Soneye worked in different countries as a journalist in Australia and United States. Specifically in the United States, he was the editor of the US Air Force One Magazine based in Washington D.C. He also served as the President of the Nigerian Media Practioners in Washington. Known for his professionalism, integrity, dedication and discipline, he has built a name for himself in media and corporate communication spaces.
He is known for his sharp mind, strategic thinking, and unyielding determination, evidenced in his life’s journey. Soneye’s 51st birthday is an opportunity to celebrate his life and reflect on his impact on Nigeria and Africa. His entrepreneurial spirit, business acumen, and philanthropic contributions continue to inspire many.
You epitomize hard work, perseverance, doggedness, humility, diligence and patriotism. The fact that you treasure the virtue of true friendship and loyalty to any cause you believe in, gives you the cutting edge. Also your focus, endurance and commitment to a prosperous Nigeria and indeed Africa have marked you out for greater glory.
As you continue to dominate the media circle and contribute to the betterment of Nigeria and the continent, we can only expect more great things from you in the years to come. It is my prayer that God will grant you sound health, long life, prosperity with abiding fulfillment. Congratulations to a true trailblazer.
