Nigerian music is earning millions of Dollars Worldwide -S.I.Tunes

Music Producer and sound engineering supremo, Olusegun Ikumoro (S.I.Tunes) has said that Nigerian Music is now a global brand earning millions of dollars, hinting that the nation needs to support our music in order to reap maximum benefits economically speaking .It should be recalled that Nigeria’s music industry is now number one in Africa.

S.I.Tunes whose album “The workaholic”.  would be dropping soon maintains that he will remain a music producer no matter happens after the album hits the market, saying the album is a mixdown ranging from Afrobeats, Afrocentric sounds, trap songs and a whole lot.

According to him the album is so  titled ” because I’m a workaholic, I love to work, I’m always doing beats in the studio, making music and I feel there are a lot of people out there passionate about what they do, so I feel with different vibes on this project, it will give them the balance they need in their lives and also encourage the struggling ones among us too

“I love producing, I love vibing in the studio with artistes making music, the album is just an introduction to my sounds and how I perceive music should be. So it’s not a bye bye for me from producing when the album drops; Kanye West, Travis Scott, Don jazzy still produces and sings even though Don Jazzy has not really thought of dropping an album but he has group albums from mo’ hits and Marvins Records that have done real well, all these producers I just mentioned are all still producing.”

Going further, he stressed that “I’m in the music industry because I’ve passion for making music, for me music is life, its what if you wake me up from sleep to do, I will do it effortlessly. I look onto producers like Sarz, Don jazzy, Dr Dre and Kanye West and a lot of them out there. I can’t mention all their names because they understand the music business and they have been there and they are still here doing their thing. I’m inspired by my day to day life and you can say impacting generations positively through the act of music is what inspires me too”

But how did he start his musical journey ,you may want to know? Well S.I.Tunes disclosed to us that it all  started “back from my university days at Enugu State University of Science and Technology, one thing that motivated me to start producing was I needed money to push my music as an artiste, yeah like I initially got into the music industry as a rap artiste before I even started producing.

“I actually recorded an album alongside  my long time friend and producer, Charlee blinks, who produced it then, after the production of the album in 2007 there was no money to push it because then digital stores wasn’t really that in use in our music industry here in Nigeria compared to now that it has made a lot of things easy for artistes. Then you had to do the radio/ TV / Alaba (market in Lagos) promotion before a marketer could market your album.

“So that was what prompted my journey into music production to raise money to fund my music career and also another reason why I ventured into it was to master my craft as an artiste, if you ask me where I’m heading for, I will tell you it’s the Grammys because our music has traveled far and wide, we’ve started gaining attention from the world when it comes to Nigerian music. So you don’t have to limit yourself as an artiste.”He said.
