Lafarge Africa Plc (WAPCO) has reported an impressive 247.9% year on year surge in its second quarter result for the period ended June 30, 2025, with standalone earnings per share (EPS) of N5.22, driven by a 70.2% increase in revenue and a moderate growth in cost of sales.
For the first half of 2025, WAPCO’s EPS surged by 352.1% to N8.24, already outperforming the company’s 2024 full-year EPS of N6.22.
The company’s revenue growth was fueled by strong performance across all business segments, including cement, aggregates & concrete, and mortar and power.
However, market watchers noted that WAPCO’s gross margin expanded significantly by 11.54 percentage points to 67.6% in half year 2025, reflecting the slower growth in cost of sales compared to revenue.
The company’s EBITDA and EBIT margins also expanded, driven by strong revenue growth and operational efficiency.
The company’s profit before tax rose by 233.9% to N126.62 billion, while profit after tax jumped by 247.9% to N84.03 billion.
According to market analysts, the impressive performance is expected to continue in the second half of 2025, supported by sustained demand from the construction and real estate sectors.
