The Alternative Bank (AltBank), Nigeria’s leading non-interest bank, has opened its
flagship branch in Effurun, Delta State, a bold move in its mission to reshape banking
in Nigeria.
Strategically positioned toserve the wider Edo/Delta region, the branch is
designed as a hub for purposeful banking and real financial empowerment for
individuals, entrepreneurs, and businesses.
Speaking at the event, Chukwuemeka Agada, Divisional Head (South) of The Alternative Bank, emphasised the institution’s commitment to Warri and its surrounding communities. “By establishing a presence here, we are initiating a transformation in the way banking serves the people of Delta .Our purpose-driven approach ensures that customers’ financial goals are not just met but exceeded,” said Agada.
“Thisbranchrepresentsourpledge to empower Warri’s dynamic businesses
and families, providing them with the tools to grow without compromise.”
Delta state, renowned for its vibrant trade and industrious spirit,istheperfect
foundation for AltBank’s continued expansion. Agada reaffirmed, “We understand the heart beat of this community, and we are excited to integrate our Bank into the fabric of this dynamic region.”
The launch event was graced by key dignitaries, including His Royal Majesty,
Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso AbeI, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom; the Honourable
(Hon.) Chief AnthonyO. Ofoni, Chairmanof Uvwie LocalGovernment, represented by
Hon. Andrew Agagbo, Vice-Chairman, Uvwie Local Government Council; Hon. Ernest
Airoboyi, Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Delta State on Community
Development, amongst others. Their presence underscored the strong community support for The Alternative Bank’ s mission to bring accessible, non-interest banking solutions to the region.
Chief (Dr.) Samuel Eshenake, representative of the Ovie, challenged the Bank to
facilitate development and employment with in the Effurun community.
Akanni Owolabi, Regional Head, Edo/Delta at The Alternative Bank, embraced this challenge, pledging that the Bank will work sustainably to drive local commerce.

The Alternative Bank commenced its journey in January 2014 as a non-interest banking window in Sterling, with a
vision to create a dynamic banking experience that respects individuality and speaks the language of its customers / partners.
In July 2023, the Central Bank of Nigeria issued a Banking License to The Alternative Bank, enabling it to operate as a fully-fledged, standalone bank. Guided by its Advisory Committee of Experts (ACE), The
Alternative Bank ensures all its operations align with the ethics of Non-Interest Banking.
