The leadership of the UNILAG Alumni Association has commiserated with the family of Mr. Tope Smart, Chairman, UNILAG Alumni 50th Anniversary Committee, MD, NEM Insurance Group and President, African Insurers’ Organisation (AIO), on the passing of his beloved wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Anthonia Smart.
According a statement by Funmi Falobi, National Publicity Secretary of the association, Leading a delegatio to the Ikoyi home of Mr. Tope Smart, National Vice President 1, Chief (Dr.) Bala Yesufu, on behalf of the National President, Engr. Ife Oyedele, extended the message of warmth and love to the family of the deceased and also urged them to remain strong.
He was joined by National Secretary, Chief Adebisi Ogundipe, Executive Secretary, Mrs. Yetunde Abatan, Alumni Relations Manager, Mr. Seun Badejo and Digital Media Officer, Mr. Jeremiah Olatinwo.
A letter of condolence signed by the National President (Worldwide), Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele, FNSE was also presented to the family.
Dr. Tonia Smart who until her death was the Chairman, Ondo State Pensions Commission, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry (Class of 1987), Msc Analytical Chemistry (1990) both from the University of Lagos.
During her undergraduate studies, she held the position of Hall Chairperson – Moremi Hall 1984/85, Vice President – Faculty of Science Students Association (ULSSA) 1984/85; Student Rep (ULSU) – 1984/85; Secretary – Chemistry Student Association, UNILAG – 1983/84.
