Experts that graced the commemorations of International Peace Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace has said that more peace advocates nationwide can save the country.
According to them peace can be engendered when more Nigerians sign up for the peaceful resolution of the various religious, social, economic and political violence ravaging the country.
The President UN –POLAC in Nigeria and Presidential Aspirant, Professor Funmilayo Adesanya – Daves in her address tagged “Driver Better. I constitute, you contribute, we contribute!!!” said more hands are needed in the war for peace in Nigeria.
Speaking at the event which held at Airport Hotel, Lagos over the weekend that we require the fear of God and His ennoblement to ensure peace and progress.
In his view, Alhaji AbdulSalam Ekpuze, Director Religious Affairs maintained that the different faiths should work together for peace to prosper across the world.
According to him the three religion that is practiced all over Nigeria came via Abraham, saying while the Jews (Judaism) revere Moses; Christians revere Jesus Christ while Islam revere Mohammed. As he said these where all children of Abraham whom God promised to use in blessing the world.
As he pointed out “In Europe from where we copied democracy all children born has welfare packages but in Nigeria retired men and women cannot be paid their pension- how therefore can poverty be brought to an end?
For Dr Cynthia Obiorah, in order for the nation and the world to enjoy peace we must eliminate unjust and discriminatory laws against woman and others.
In there views Awardees at the event like Imo State Commissioner for Health,Dr Prosper – Olayagba Success, Dr Asunta Okechukwu and Maryam Jallo, the award was a surprise even as they promised to ensure peace in the areas of influence.
While Dr Success and Okechukwu promised to see what they can do in terms of youth restiveness among others called on Nigerians to follow the way of peace because there can be no progress without peace.
Jallo who is the founder and president of Jamar Health Foundation said her health based NGO has been doing a lot in Kaduna State to ensure peace as well as contribute to the health of the poor.
She said over 2000 persons has benefited from her health outreach and that the NGO has spent over N26M in that direction and that she is going back to achieve more.
Going on, he said that if the federal Government can live up to expectation that violence can be reduced, saying that poverty generates violence.
