It was a joyous moment as six Past Council Presidents of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) came to commends stock brokers during their trading session in Lagos.
The former president includes Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Mallam Ballama Manu, Dr Oba Otudeko, Dr Raymond Obieri, Mr Goodie Ibru and Alhaji Aliko Mohammed.
Commenting on their visit, the incumbent President Mr Aigboje Aig Imoukhuede said the council members and the Past Presidents discussed market issues in the past five years.
According to him some of the issues are demutualization of the exchange, derivatives market and the present downward trends as shown in the key market indicators.
Imoukhuede noted that the council members also consider the global economic challenge, while he urged dealing members to be optimistic since the market is currently facing volatities, even though this is not the challenge they wish.
On his part, the doyen of the day Mr Sam Ndata of Compass Securities applauded the Past Presidents for taking time out of their busy schedule to visit the broker.
He called on the Past Presidents to keep on supporting the market, urging them to discuss with those in corridor of power about the market in order to bring it back to what it used to be.
