Nobody should pity Southern Nigerians if the brutal killings in the North engulfs the South. There is no doubt that after the Fulani warriors and Islamic jihadists complete the annihilation of northern indigenous people, their attention will turn to Southern Nigeria.

Without prejudice to the proposed protest over hikes in prices of fuel and electricity, Nigerians are sleeping over the atrocities in Northern Nigeria which are more deadly than economic issues.

That President Muhammadu Buhari has refused to mobilize the country into war gear, does not mean that citizens all over the country should idly watch, while death creeps to their doorsteps. Nigerians everywhere can at least protest to draw global attention to the merciless killing of fellow citizens in Northern Nigeria.

It is in the self enlightened interest of Southern Nigerians to unite and do everything possible to end the northern carnage. Northerners should not be left alone because our fate is tied to theirs.

While Nigerian elders under President Obasanjo’s initiative mobilize to find lasting solutions, a day should be set aside in Southern Nigeria to protest in sympathy with innocent Northern Nigerians facing genocide in their fatherland.
