Lagos Journalist Loses Mother

Lagos journalist, Chief Emele Onu has lost his mother, Madam Mary Oden Onu, nee Arunsi, after a protracted illness in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

Chief Onu, an international journalist and award-winning writer is the second child of five siblings by the septuagenarian who passed on at the age of 75.

The family in a statement expressed shock at the death of their mother who in the past year became the matriarch of the Late Chief Oden Uko Onu family of Abia Ohafia in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.

“We never thought our mother could be called home by her maker too soon. She was an epitome of love to her family, a care-giver to many children and young ones that came her way,  a woman leader and a devout Christian,’’  the family said in the statement signed by Chief Onu, who writes for Bloomberg LP.

Funeral rites for the deceased will hold at the family’s country home in Abia Ohafia, Abia State on a date to be announced by the family, according to the statement.
