Fed Govt begins vocational training in Agric

Pursunat to its economic diversification strategy, the Federal Government yesterday started vocational training programme in modern agriculture for 500 unemployed graduates across the country.

The scheme being hosted by the Federal College of Agriculture (FECA) Akure, Ondo State capital, had participants drawn from Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger and Abuja.

Others are Edo, Ebonyi,Akwa-Ibom, Delta, Imo, Anambra, Enugu and Lagos. At the opening ceremony, the Provost of FECA,Dr Samson Odedina said the government had approved the training in its 2016 capital project with the aim of training unemployed graduates on profitable agricultural value chain job opportunities.

This, according to him would subsequently provide post-training linkages that would ensure that training remain in profitable agric business.
