The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) on Friday August 12, 2022, formally unveiled its plans to host the 15th edition of its annual banking and finance conference schedule to hold in Abuja between September 13 to 14, 2022.
At a pre-conference world media briefing in Lagos, President / Chairman of Council CIBN Dr Ken Opara, explained that the conference will be organized in a hybrid format, with the theme: “Repositioning The Financial Services Industry For An Evolving Glocal Context”
Noting that the conference is the largest gathering of banking and finance professionals in Nigeria and Africa with an estimated audience of 10,000 comprising professionals, policymakers, regulators, members of the academia, operators, and other stakeholders in the financial services industry.
On his part, Chairman, Consultative Committee of the 15th Annual Banking & Finance Conference Mr Abubakar Suleiman and Managing Director of Sterling Bank Plc, said the objective of the conference is to, among others, provide a veritable platform for subject matter experts and industry stakeholders to drive conversations and unanimously design a clear road map towards repositioning the financial services industry for growth and stability.’
According to him, “Mr. Farouk Gumel, Chairman of Union Bank of Nigeria Plc., will be speaking on the theme of the Conference and setting the tone for the intellectual discourse that will hallmark the conference as the Keynote Speaker.
“a total of forty-eight (48) seasoned resource persons have been carefully selected to discuss the various sub-themes and proffer sustainable and workable solutions, this year Conference is structured to feature five (5) Business and four (4) Break-out Sessions with highly engaging topics that are critical to the repositioning of Nigeria’s banking and financial services industry for competitiveness within the global context while staying locally relevant”.
He disclosed that “His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is expected to grace the occasion with his presence along other dignitaries such as; His Excellency, Professor Yemi, Osinbajo, GCON, SAN, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Executive Governor of Lagos State; Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, Honourable Minister of Finance, Federal Republic of Nigeria and Mr. Mohammed Musa, Honorable Minister, Federal Capital Territory among other invited dignitaries..
