The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued a warning to the public about scammers claiming to have received contract award letters for construction projects and financial interventions on behalf of the bank.
These individuals are attempting to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians, and their claims are completely false.
This warning was issued by Hakama Sidi Ali, Acting Director of Corporate Communications, on November 18, 2024.
According to the CBN, these scammers are motivated solely by the desire to deceive and steal from innocent people.
The bank has reiterated that it has discontinued direct development interventions and special project funding, and has not authorized any public notices for such interventions on social media or other news outlets.
The CBN remains committed to its core mandate of ensuring monetary and price stability, and a sound and efficient financial system in Nigeria.
The bank urges the public to be cautious and report any suspicious activities or publications to the relevant authorities.
