Nigeria’s Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) recently hosted an industry-focused stakeholder engagement session, bringing together key players in the telecommunications sector to discuss strategies for expanding connectivity to unserved and underserved communities .

The event, themed “Strengthening Partnership for Sustainable Telecommunication Infrastructure in the Unserved and Underserved Communities: Collaborating for Sustainable Growth,” highlighted the importance of collaboration and strategic partnerships in achieving sustainable development.

USPF Secretary, Yomi Arowosafe, commended the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (UK FCDO) for their support in expanding rural connectivity in Nigeria .

The stakeholder engagement session aimed to identify practical solutions for improving telecommunications access in underserved regions, with a focus on innovative financing models, emerging technologies, and policy incentives.

With Nigeria’s government committed to ensuring equitable access to telecommunications services, the USPF is playing a crucial role in providing universal access and universal service, aligning with national and global goals such as bridging the digital divide and achieving Sustainable Development Goals.
