Dr. Ade Dosunmu, former Director General of NIMASA and Public Policy Expert, has commended the Supreme Court’s decision on Local Government autonomy, describing it as “a landmark judgement that is long overdue, but timely.”
“This decision is a significant milestone in our democratic journey, and I congratulate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his bold initiative,” Dosunmu said. “It’s a call for accountability and dedication to duty for Local Government chairmen, and I urge Nigerians to get involved and demand transparency in the utilization of funds and project implementation.”
Dosunmu emphasized the importance of civic engagement, saying, “To whom much is given, much is expected. Nigerians must monitor how funds are utilized and projects are implemented in their local governments.”
He advised state governors to accept the decision in good faith, saying, “It’s a sacrifice they need to make for the advancement of our democracy.”
“This judgment has opened new vistas of opportunities for Nigerians, and I commend President Tinubu for his leadership,” Dosunmu said. “It’s a testament to his commitment to deepening our democratic system.”
