The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has confirmed the appointment of Mrs. Oluwatomi Somefun as the new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Unity Bank Plc.
This followed the resignation of Henry Semenitari last month. Semenitari, who assumed office in 2013, resigned July 24, 2015, after a successful recapitalisation and re-branding exercise that evolved the bank into a profitable and customer focused financial services company.
The board of the bank had said it would replace him with “someone from within who meets all the CBN requirements.”
Hence, Somefun, who was the Executive Director responsible for Lagos and South West Regional Operations, and oversight on Treasury and Financial Institutions Division, recommended by the board as the MD/CEO.
The bank said that the confirmation of Somefun was contained in a letter dated August 10, 2015, signed by CBN Director of Banking Supervision.
