The board of the UBA Group yesterday approved the appointment of Kennedy Uzoka as the new Group Managing Director with effect from August 1, 2016 subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria. Mr Uzoka succeeds Phillips Oduoza, who retires on July 31, 2016, after two terms of leading the UBA Group.
A statement from Nasr Ramon, Head of the Corporate Affairs Department of the UBA Group, said Uzoka has most recently been leading the transformation agenda of the bank, after completing his Advanced Management Programme of the Harvard Business School.
The incoming GMD has over two and a half decades of experience in commercial banking, strategy and business transformation. Prior to his sabbatical at Harvard, he had served as the Deputy Managing Director, UBA Group and was also the Chief Executive Officer of UBA Africa, responsible for the Group operations in 18 countries across Africa.
Mr Uzoka is a graduate of Mechanical Engineering from University of Benin and holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Lagos. The statement also announced the appointment of Victor Osadolor as the Deputy Managing Director, UBA Group.
